Prompt #2 Medical Code of Ethics

No matter what dream job you have there is always unspoken rules of ethics that all people in that field uphold. The medical field is definitely no exception to this. After reading through American Medical Association's Principles of medical ethics I've learned the core morals I will need to adopt as I persue this field.
The number one rule of the being a medical professional is that the patient comes first. As an aspiring doctor, you have to be the most selfless person possible. That is one of the top if not the top reason I want to be in this field. Being able to better someones life is one of the greatest feeling you can achieve.
Most people see the ethics of medical professionals as they are in the job for the patients. There are a few that believe that most people become doctors based on the money. There are both in this industry, but as the public sees it doctors are in it for the patient.

  1. I found this very interesting and I was wondering, since in engineering, we have a written code of ethics that if we are found to violate we would lose our licence, do medical doctors have the same? I found it interesting that the first Canon of the Professional Engineers Code of Ethics is similar to what you mentioned for doctors. The first Canon states that an engineer is to put safety and well-being of users above all else.
