Free Post #6 A Tale of Two Dresses

All the rage right now is the infamous dress; is it blue and black or white and gold? To answer this question I read an article by CNN’s Senior Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen.

The color of the dress has everything to do with our genes, “It has to do with the tiny cones in the back of our eyeballs that perceive colors in a slightly different way depending upon our genes” (Cohen). These cones detect blue green and red from an image, and our brain uses those colors to make other colors. So based on your genes bases on the fact whether you see black and blue or gold and white. To settle a debate I am most confident that the actual color of the dress is gold and white. And after reading this article, things that seem as simple as dress color turns out to be a complex system that our brain perceives in different ways between each individual person. Things like this just heightens my interest in the medic field because I want to learn how everything works with the human body.

  1. I don't see the white and gold, but fancy that there is a scientific reason for that. I see blue and black. Now I know why I see it that way. Very interesting post on a huge social media trend.
